Jason Call for Congress Town Hall

Join us on Sunday, October 15th at 4pm PT / 7pm ET for a Town Hall conversation with Washington State Green Party Congressional candidate Jason Call

The Green Party of Washington is excited to introduce Jason to a national audience!

Jason is a lifelong progressive activist on issues ranging from healthcare to education to peace action to climate action. He is a former high school math teacher of almost two decades and was elected to the board of his local Education Association for a number of years. He has been active in ballot initiative efforts over the last decade, including I-502 which legalized cannabis in Washington (first in the nation), I-1433 which gave Washington the highest minimum wage in the country, and I-735 which saw Washington become the 18th State to support the movement to Amend the Constitution and overturn Citizens United. Jason has served for 5 years on the board of Whole Washington (wholewashington.org), one of the strongest state-based single-payer organizations in the country.

Jason has run for the WA-02 Congressional seat twice before and came in a close 3rd place both times in the ‘Top Two’ primary. A 2nd place finish would put Jason through to the general election against the corporate-funded incumbent, an outcome that is eminently winnable.

Jason’s website is detailed, with in-depth policy positions, gold star opposition research on the incumbent (a fossil fuel and war machine-backed Democrat seeking his 13th term), media spots, press releases, and op-eds from prior races, and also explains why Jason left the Democrats to join the Green Party.

This race is a real opportunity, with the potential to see the first Green member of Congress!

We look forward to this online event, and we encourage you to come and meet this engaging, knowledgeable, and experienced candidate!

AMENDED TO

Article 4.1.C. Term of Service – Upon election the SCC shall facilitate the work of the Party until the election of their successors. The Alternate Delegate will assist the National Delegate(s) in fulfilling their duties if they are incapacitated. Delegates must report to the SCC during our monthly meeting either in person, video chat, email or proxy at least once every 3 months. Failure of an NC delegate to report for 4 months will constitute a resignation of that position, which will be filled as stated in 4.1.N.

reorder remaining sections as follows:

4.1.L Budget – It is the responsibility of the SCC to prepare an annual budget to be posted in the Members section of the GPWA website.

4.1.M Implementation of Decisions – The SCC will determine procedures to be used in implementing decisions. No procedures will be chosen which violate the spirit or text of the bylaws. Written accounts of procedures will be kept. Modification is understood to include adding or deleting entries. The SCC may establish other functional bodies and working groups as they consider necessary. 4.1.N Vacancies – Vacancies in the SCC shall be filled by appointment by the SCC. The appointed member will serve until the next convention, at which time a member will be elected according to normal election procedures. The newly elected member will serve out the time of the original councilmember.

4.1.O Resignations – At at-large member, the Treasurer, or the Deputy Treasurer will be deemed to have resigned when without explanation or prior notice, they miss meetings for two months, are unavailable by email for one month, or do not return phone calls within one month. Presidential Nominating Convention – July 11th, 2020

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the Green Party of the United States will hold a virtual convention online.

July 9, 2020 – July 12, 2020
Presidential Nominating Convention: July 11th, Noon-8pm Eastern Time [9am – 5pm Pacific Time]
$100 registration fee

The Green Party is hard at work developing a convention format and tool suite to hold a democratic, deliberative and inspiring event to launch the Green Party’s general election campaign.

This will take substantial resources and so we request delegates to contribute a registration fee as usual.

Registration fees will cover the emergency infrastructure and staff necessary to produce an online convention from multiple locations, plus online workshops, news conferences and delegate sessions such as approval of the Green Party US platform.

The Green Party Presidential Nominating Convention will be broadcast LIVE, for free on the Internet for all, on Saturday, July 11th starting at Noon Eastern Time [9 AM Pacific Time].

If you are seeking financial assistance in the form of a reduced or waived registration fee, please see the form to request a Reduced Registration fee at gp.org/convention.

The Green Party strives to allow any Green Party member to attend our national meetings. As the only political party that refuses corporate donations, we acknowledge a registration fee can be a financial burden for some Greens. Therefore, we never turn anyone away because of the cost of registration.
