Meet Spokane Candidate Danny Tarkenton

We invite you to meet Danny Tarkenton, candidate for Spokane County Prosecutor and applicant for Preferred Candidate Status with the Green Party of Washington, at our upcoming GPWA membership meeting!

Danny Tarkenton submitted an application for Preferred Candidate with the Greens, and WE NEED YOU to participate in this decision. We’re holding an open meeting with Tarkenton at 7pm on Tuesday, September 8th via Zoom.

Below are some quotes from Tarkenton’s application:

“My activism centers on understanding and addressing the root causes of harm. That passion led me to psychology long before law, with academic research on empathy, restorative justice, and the effects of forced migration and disrupted attachment…In law school, I put that same commitment into practice as Vice President of Pride Law, advocating for LGBTQ+ civil and human rights, and as a Street Law instructor, teaching high school students about their constitutional rights. As a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney, I carried that work directly into Involuntary Treatment Act hearings to ensure respondents were understood and their rights were protected.”

“As an independent candidate, I am proof that a real alternative to the two-party system is possible in local elections.”

“During the campaign, I would welcome introductions and outreach to Green Party supporters across Spokane County who share my commitment to restorative, root-cause approaches to public safety.”

If you’re a GPWA Member on Loomio, you can access the full campaign questionnaire online.

Can’t make the meeting in person? No worries—send us an email with your thoughts and questions to pass along!
