The People’s Platform is a true alternative to the dangerous, ruling-class Democrat and Republican parties’ agendas. Following the election, we need to be prepared to continue the fight for our demands: for a free Palestine, ending war and policing, for better wages, for migrant justice, and so much more. To achieve these aspirations, we know we cannot simply ask for them; we must rally our communities together in struggle and fight for a better future!

Join ILPS for a People’s Assembly and Mass Mobilization to put forward our communities’ demands and solutions, no matter who wins in November!

See you in the struggle!

Degrowing the Military While Preserving Jobs – Online Webinar

Drastically reducing the military budget may be the most important step that humanity can take toward peace. Yet, vast numbers of people depend on military production for jobs that provide for their families. This webinar will link the need for economic degrowth and stopping unending wars. How does war hurt soldiers who participate in it? How does it harm people of color, Native Americans, and the world’s colonized communities? How could money wasted on war be redirected to social necessities? How can we ensure jobs for those employed in military production via a shortened work week, retraining, and job sharing?

Hear from…

  • Christian Sorensen, author of Understanding the War Industry
  • Dr. Ho-Chih Lin, Tipping Point North South, London
  • Katerina Canyon, Peace Economy Project, Missouri
  • Sheridan Gosta Murphy, American Indian Movement, Florida
  • Don Fitz, Green Party of St. Louis
  • Rachel Braaten, Green Party of Minnesota (moderator)

Degrowth By Monetary Reform: Money For the People By the People!

People are drowning in debt and suffering from inadequate health care, rising inflation, and endless wars. We must degrow the destructive economic system that enriches a financial elite at the expense of people, planet and peace. The privatized money system is unstable and wreaks havoc as it grows exponentially. The Green Party’s “Greening the Dollar” initiative outlines how to scrap the Fed for a Constitutional system that circulates permanent, stable, and debt-free sovereign public money. This will allow us to grow a caring economy that nurtures what we hold dear.

Hear from:

Greg Coleridge, Move to Amend & Alliance for Just Money

Richard C. Cook, American Geopolitical Institute

Mark Young, International Movement for Monetary Reform

Fernanda Lugo, Alliance for Just Money

Howard Switzer, GPUS BMRC  (moderator)

Degrowth: A Better Global Quality of Life with Less Production

  • Register Here

People everywhere are asking if degrowth is the only realistic way to counter climate change. But how would that happen? Would people lose their jobs and be impoverished in the US and across the world? Or would it be the only way for poor countries to free themselves from overdeveloped ones?

Degrowth means (1) increasing necessities in the poor world while (2) decreasing unnecessary production in the rich world. What are necessities? What is useless and destructive production? How can we teach children to appreciate people more than things? What does it mean to ration “embodied fossil fuels?”

Speakers include:

  • Ajamu Baraka, Black Alliance for Peace, 2016 Green Party VP candidate,
  • Don Fitz, Outreach Coordinator, Green Party of St. Louis,
  • Alice Green, Green Party of Washington State,
  • Stan Cox, Research Associate, The Land Institute
