Green Congressional Campaign Committee: 2026 Campaign Launch

Green Congressional Campaign Committee: 2026 Campaign Launch

Wednesday, April 30, at 5 PM PDT on Zoom

The GCCC Campaign Launch comes during the annual Earth Day to May Day celebrations so we can highlight Green policies that make the connection between Ecological Wisdom and Social Justice.

Green Candidates for Congress will bring into focus the Green New Deal, a Just Transition out of the fossil fuel economy, real climate solutions, Living Wages, Health Care for All, and so much more!

This is the first in the GCCC’s monthly Candidate Spotlights for the 2026 Election Cycle, and we are honored to be joined by Kymone Freeman and Sean Dougherty, speaking on the theme of “Why Greens should run for Congress”.  These experienced campaigners will share stories about how their previous runs have made positive impacts in their communities, as well as their expectations of how having Greens in Congress will change Washington, and the nation, for the better.

Whole Washington Volunteer Retreat – Spokane

Whole Washington holds a full-day volunteer retreat every 6 months. These events have supported building, communicating, and implementing our strategic plan to win state-based universal single-payer healthcare here in Washington. By bill or by ballot.

This April, we are taking our retreat east of the mountains for the first time. It is critical that we organize in every community. This retreat is just one more opportunity to support volunteers all around the state, because we CAN win this, but we can’t do it without you.

Typically, these events run from about 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., depending on space availability. The date is set (4/27/2025). The location and time are TBD.

For now, save the date!

NEW NUCLEAR, SAME AS OLD NUCLEAR

TWO AUTHORS ON HANFORD AND NUCLEAR POWER – JOIN US!

Saturday, January 18, 5 – 7 pm

First Congregational Church of Bellingham, 2401 Cornwall Avenue

ATOMIC DAYS: THE UNTOLD STORY OF THE MOST TOXIC PLACE IN AMERICA

by Joshua Frank

“Once home to the United States’s largest plutonium production site, the Hanford Nuclear Reservation is laced with 56 million gallons of radioactive waste… The EPA designated Hanford the most toxic place in America; it is also the most expensive environmental clean-up job the world has ever seen, with a $677 billion price tag that keeps growing.”

NUCLEAR IS NOT THE SOLUTION: THE FOLLY OF ATOMIC POWER IN THE AGE OF CLIMATE CHANGE by M.V. Ramana

“M. V. Ramana’s powerful book destroys any illusion that nuclear is our answer to climate change, untangling technical arguments into simple and sensible language. Importantly, Nuclear Is Not the Solution unmasks the powerful groups with vested interests in the maintenance of the status quo, currently working hard to greenwash a spectacularly dirty industry.”

Green Party Webinar on Climate and the Military

An aerial photo showing the Sunnah of flames in the market of the Al-Arab neighborhood in the city of Omdurman, Sudan on June 2, 2023

  • Monday, December 9 at 5 PM PT

  • RSVP Here

On Monday, December 9, at 5 PM (PT) the EcoAction Committee and the Green Party Peace Action Committee are holding a webinar on the issue of the military and climate change. Speakers will include Haig Hovaness of GPAX; Prof. David Schwartzman of EcoAction; and Sue Ann Martinsen of End Military Madness Against the Earth. Pre-registration is required. RSVP Here.

The military impacts climate change in multiple ways. War and military conflicts are environmental and climate disasters. Severe weather events and global warming destabilize countries, especially those with already unstable governments and under-resourced infrastructure. The competition for land, water, and food, as well as dealing with potentially tens of millions of climate refugees (including many already coming to the US), increases the likelihood of military conflicts between countries.

The global military, with the Pentagon in the lead, has been the biggest greenhouse gas emissions of any institution on the planet, representing between 1 to 5% of annual emissions.  The $2 trillion spent on the military worldwide diverts resources that could be spent on climate action instead. And many wars are fought over access to fossil fuels.

The Green Party Peace Action Committee (GPAX) works to strengthen the peace pillar of the USGP. GPAX supports peace actions, produces anti-war webinars, issues public statements, and assists GP candidates for political office. GPAX welcomes new members who wish to participate in this work. The EcoAction Committee promotes ecological wisdom, environmental justice, sustainability and responsible governmental stewardship of the Earth and its inhabitants.

Haig Hovaness is the Co-Chair of GPAX. He has written and spoken on defense issues and the danger of conflict escalation. Haig has a professional background in information technology. Videos of his GPAX presentations are available at the GPAX website, https://gpax.gpus.org/

Women Against Military Madness (WAMM) is a member-based organization whose mission is to oppose U.S. militarism and involvement in wars. WAMM challenges systems of harm, oppression and exploitation, and helps build movements of solidarity with others for peace and justice through education and action.

David Schwartzman is a member of the EcoAction Committee. He is a Professor Emeritus, Howard University (biogeochemist, environmental scientist, PhD, Brown University) and an active member of the DC Statehood Green Party/Green Party of the United States. He will focus on the need for the near future defeat of militarized fossil capital and its political instruments.

Workers Strike Back Organizing Conference: Fight the Two Parties of Genocide – Build a Working-Class Antiwar Movement!

We need to use our momentum from getting out the vote for Jill Stein’s antiwar pro-worker campaign to build massive working people’s movements, here and internationally. To end military aid for Israel, the genocide in Gaza, and the brutal occupation. To fight against racism, sexism, and all forms of oppression. To organize protests and strike actions to win a $25/hour minimum wage, Medicare for All, quality affordable housing, and good union jobs for all.

Both Democrats and Republicans are a dead end for workers, the union movement, and the antiwar struggle. We urgently need to build a bold, independent, antiwar, working-class party that can take on the billionaires & warmongers and BREAK the two-party system.

Register now for the Workers Strike Back February Organizing Conference on SATURDAY, Feb 22 @ 10 am PT!
